Pac-12 men?s basketball ? Utahn C.J. Wilcox propels Washington Huskies

Seattle ? Moved to a reserve role for the start of Pac-12 Conference play, Washington guard C.J. Wilcox responded by matching his career high with 24 points, and the Huskies improved to 2-0 to start the conference season with a 76-60 win over Oregon on Saturday night.

Wilcox, the former Pleasant Grove High School standout, was shuttled to the bench earlier this week as a way to get freshman Tony Wroten and 7-footer Aziz N?Diaye in the starting lineup together. Wilcox still came through with his highest point total since scoring 24 last season against UCLA. He scored 13 during a key second-half run for Washington (8-5, 2-0 Pac-12) after the Ducks had trimmed a double-digit deficit down to four.

E.J. Singler led Oregon (10-4, 1-1) with 20 points, 13 coming in the first half. But the Ducks shot just 32 percent.

Arizona 68, Arizona State 51 ? In Tucson, Ariz., defending conference regular-season champion Arizona got 16 points from Jesse Perry and 14 from Nick Johnson, taking control early and beating Arizona State in both teams? Pac-12 opener.

The Wildcats (10-4) were up by 14 at the half and by as many as 24 in the second half.

Arizona State (4-9) cut the lead to 13 twice but could get no closer. Rusian Pateev scored a career-high 12 for the Sun Devils, who are off to their worst start since 1986-87, when they also opened 4-9. No other Arizona State player reached double figures.

Cal 85, UCLA 69 ? In Berkeley, Calif., Allen Crabbe scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and California beat UCLA to pull off its first home sweep of the Los Angeles schools in eight years and improve to 11-0 at home.

Stanford 51, USC 43 ? Aaron Bright scored seven of his game-high 16 points in the final 4:43 of play for the host Cardinal.
